Michael Hassell joins the Smithfield High School administrative team with nine years as an educator. Most recently, Mr. Hassell has taught instrumental music for students in grades 4-12 in North Stonington, CT from 2008-2014. In North Stonington, Mr. Hassell served as Unified Arts Coordinator, emergency response leader for the district, and he has played a major role in curriculum development, educator training opportunities, and researching creative schedules at the high school level. Prior to North Stonington, Mr. Hassell severed as Instrumental Music Teacher from 2005-2008 for students in grades 6-12 at Scituate Middle and High School in North Scituate, RI.
Mr. Hassell completed his undergraduate work in music education at Rhode Island College in 2005, and he recently received his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Providence College in May of 2014.
Some of Mr. Hassell’s passions in education include embedding technology into classroom instruction and creating professional development opportunities for educators.
Mr. Hassell resides in Coventry with his wife Jessica, his daughter Grace, and his son Max.
