Linda Murphy had been a math teacher at Somerset Berkley Regional High School, formerly Somerset High School, for 13 years. At Somerset Berkley, she was the head track coach for 5 years, coaching cross country as well as winter and spring track. She also developed a program for math support for the statewide assessment in Massachusetts, was a lead mentor at the high school, and wrote curriculum for math courses. Prior to working at Somerset Berkley High, she taught math for one year at New Bedford High School and was a self-employed daycare provider from 1995 to 2002.
Mrs. Murphy graduated from Providence College with a master's degree in educational leadership, a bachelor's degree in management from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and a post-baccalaureate in high school mathematics teaching from Bridgewater State University.
A lifelong resident of Somerset, Mrs. Murphy resides with her husband Patrick and her two daughters, Kelly and Caitlin.
