Important Graduation Information from RIDE

Portfolios, Reading Week, etc.

             Last week the senior class and a significant number of the junior class completed their graduation portfolio presentations.  Students presented to teacher and community judges from around the state.  It was truly an amazing day.  Congratulations to all who completed the presentation.

Change is a process, not an event.

Our country is at an interesting crossroad in regards to education.  Schwahn and Spady (1999), feel that today’s schools are a cumulative result of centuries of extremely limited thinking about the nature of learners and learning.  He uses the metaphor of an iceberg, with the idea of the bottom layers representing all the years of outdated thinking in educational reform.

Be the Change!

Be the Change!  This was the theme this week at SHS.  Approximately 100 students participated in an all day program this past Monday to kick off RESPECT week.  Feedback from the event was amazingly positive.  One could sense a positive shift with the culture of the building.  Read more »
