First Day of School: Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures

We are excited to begin the school year bright and early tomorrow morning, and we welcome all of our Sentinel students to the next step in their educational experience.  The night before the first day of school brings excitement, and, sometimes, a little nervousness, as the thoughts of everyone are focused on the wondrous potential and experiences that a new school year brings.  Please know that the SHS staff is ready, and we are awaiting the opportunity to welcome your child with smiles, greetings, and a year filled with memorable learning.

This year’s graduating class, the class of 2018, will be the 50th graduating class to walk the hallowed halls of SHS.  We are honored to preside over this great moment in the tradition of Smithfield High School, and we will spend the year focused on the lasting legacy that each of us contribute to the ongoing story of this esteemed institution.

A few items for tomorrow:

Due to the final phase of our curbing and sidewalk construction project, we’d ask all parents dropping off their students to transit in the parking lot lanes.  Please do not use the access road directly in front of the school.  That access road will be open to buses only.

When dropping off or picking up your child, please pull up parallel to the main entrance of the building.  This would allow your child to enter or exit via door #1, the main entrance door.

For the remainder of the week, there will be no parking in the visitor spots near the front of the building.  Please use available parking spots in the lot.

Finally, the sidewalk in the front of the building will remain closed until completion of the construction project, which we anticipate to be completed by the start of next week.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the high school administration at (401) 949-2050, or via email.

Thank you for being a part of the Smithfield High School family, and we look forward to sharing in an educational partnership for this next year of your child’s high school experience.  We are all looking forward to a good night's sleep in preparation for the first day of school, and are ready and waiting to make this a successful year in Smithfield High School’s ongoing legacy.

Go Sentinels!
