Balfour-Cole Post 64 is proud to announce that, at this year's Boys State program, Timothy Ferron, a rising senior at Smithfield High School, was elected by his peers as "Governor" and was also selected to attend the American Legion's Boys Nation program in Washington, DC later this summer.
Rhode Island is one of 49 states to host Boys State and Girls State programs at which students learn the rights, privileges and responsibilities of citizens. The training centers around the the structure and operation of local government, with students operating a model legislature.
Tim Ferron was honored at Post 64's June meeting as he thanked the Post for sponsoring him and relayed to the membership his experience at the program.
