Dear Class of 2021, 2022, 2023 Students & Parents:

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and in good spirits.  Thank you for your patience as we develop plans for the remainder of the school year.  Unfortunately, due to the current situation and the Executive Orders of the Governor, many of our Spring events have been canceled. 

Flexible Learning Days

May 15th (Friday)

  • Staff – Vacation Day

  • Students – Vacation Day

  • AP Students US History & Computer Science will take the scheduled AP Test.

May 20th (Wednesday)

  • Staff – Professional Day

  • Students – Flexible Learning Day

May 25th (Monday) – Memorial Day

  • No School – Students & Staff

June 1st (Monday)

  • Staff – Professional Day

  • Students – Flexible Learning Day

  • Class of 2020 – Last Day

June 12th (Friday)

  • Last Day of School Underclassmen

Additional information for Flexible Learning Days

Students should sign-in on the attendance form and check their Google Classrooms. Teachers will not be providing direct instruction on these days but will be providing assignments to be completed.  No new content will be provided.  Assignments may include:

  • Make-up work

  • Skill reinforcement 

  • Non-tech options 

  • Enrichment activities

Final Exams

  • Final exams are canceled for grades 9-11.

Grading 

  • Semester 1 and Semester 2 will be averaged for a final transcript grade.

  • Students with a final grade between 50-64 will receive an incomplete.  Students with an incomplete will be provided an opportunity to participate in a summer learning program from June 15th to July 3rd to improve their grades.  Summer school options may be limited or nonexistent, so it is important that you work with your teachers now to ensure you are not repeating a course in the fall.  

  • Students with a final grade of 49 or lower will be required to retake the course.

Yearbooks

  • Our yearbooks have arrived.  Yearbooks will be included in the locker cleanout bags.  

Class of 2022 Ring Order

  • Herff Jones is mailing class rings to each students home.  If you have not received it, please contact Mike McCann - MaMcCann@herffjones.com. 

Class of 2022 Cookie Order

  • We are working with our distributor on delivery options.  We are tentatively scheduled for delivery the week of May 25th.  Mr. Cabral will notify you with details soon.  

Class of 2023 Clothing Order

  • These items are in the building.  Mrs. Gliottone will reach out to you regarding delivery.  

Locker Clean Out

  • The district is currently working on a plan to get locker materials to students in a safe manner.  More details soon.  

Return Chromebook & Textbooks

  • The district is currently working on a plan for students to return Chromebooks and textbooks in a safe manner.  More details soon. 

We will continue to monitor the evolving public health crisis and how it impacts the state and us locally in Smithfield. Thank you all for your support during this challenging time.
