SHS Music Department “Winter Concert” Wednesday, 12/11/19 at 7pm Come celebrate the kids and all their hard work. *Holiday cookie tray sale* All proceeds benefit music programs and activities

The SHS band and choir will host their annual holiday concert on Wednesday, December 11 at 7 pm in the auditorium.  #SHSLegacy

All winter athletes and a parent are required to attend the Winter Sports Parent/Student Meeting on Monday, December 9th at 6:30.  We will start in the auditorium.  @sportssentinels #SHSLegacy

Hello Class of 2024! We are looking forward to having you visit SHS on Wednesday, December 4th from 6-8 pm. The event is open to the entire Smithfield community but the Class of 2024 and any out of district students are strongly encouraged to attend. Participants will have the opportunity to tour SHS, explore our Career & Technology Programs, and meet students and staff. The Showcase is organized like an Open House and is a drop in event. We encourage families to explore and interact with our teachers and students. All we ask is that you sign in at the cafeteria. During the sign up process, you will receive a map and a list of activities for the evening. We will be running four special sessions in room 101. 6:15 Special Education Supports - Lynn Farren 6:45 School Counseling and Support Services - Lora DiMuccio & Ashlee Barton 7:00 Overview of our CTE Program - Dan Kelley 7:30 Overview of our Athletic Department - Chris Coderre We look forward to meeting you on Wednesday evening!

Congratulations to SHS senior Vincent Lancellotti.  He is our 2019 Leach Award winner.  The Leach Award is an award given annually in honor of former Smithfield High School student Thomas "Tommy" Leach, Class of '74, who lost his life at sea while saving the lives of others aboard a commercial fishing boat off of the coast of Massachusetts in 1993. The award is bestowed upon a senior football player who best resembles the qualities that Tommy displayed throughout his life.

This holiday season, the best gift you can give your child is a good education. And the best place to get an education is in school. It’s tempting to extend your vacation by a few days, but remember, those days count as absences. Just a few missed days here and there, even if they’re excused absences, can add up to too much lost learning time. So make sure your child is in school every day, right up until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning.
